Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
Yesterday I drove across the state towards our home with a passenger; 16 year old grand-daughter Cinda. Usually when I get home from driving that trip I’m ready to sack out, but instead, Cinda and I made use of our afternoon by hitting the shops looking for summer bargains, then picked up some movies, dinner and headed home to Grampa.
I roll my eyes, remembering that I wondered what I’d do with my free time this summer. We’re planning a patio project, there’s friends and family we hope to spend time with, plus figuring in a camping trip. Life is full, isn’t it? Juggling schedules puts us to the test. Thankfully, there is always this that gently presses me to pay attention; go deeper, pray, trust God and quietly listen.
It’s so easy to get caught up, stressed out and to the place where we can not feel the presence of the holy, see the beauty all around us, nor hear the still small voice within. I had to grin this morning when once again I remembered a catch-phrase a friend taught me, “Keep it simple, stupid.” KISS…
Today Cinda and I hope to have a bit more simple day. There’s an afternoon matinee we’d like to see and dinner with Grampa when he comes in from work. I just need to go do my exercise early, make a couple of calls and Cinda wants to get a morning run in. Maybe I can squeeze in washing the sliding door window where Rosco presses his wet nose and throw out some mulch around the tomatoes… I leave you with a hug and KISS |

| Father, I’m grateful that you stay steady with my travel instructions, helping me to come to your quiet, to pray and listen. I get caught up so easily. | |
