Today's Morning Medication From MJ  June 16, 2007

Matthew 6:9 “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be thy name…”

I share my last name with my husband. The sound of his first name in my mind as I think of it gives me comfort and a feeling of warm love, connection, friendship and peace. I know Jon and Jon knows me.

            Relationships are rather mysterious.

The most special ones we did not go looking for but stumbled upon, thanks to God. Remember that moment you met a special friend?  “Hi. My name’s Mary Jane.”

Together, friends share their names and slowly begin to learn about each other. Friends talk, learn things from one another, laugh and play, face problems, wipe tears and overcome difficulties. They hold hands, grin and bear it.

There in the rich ground of open minded searching, care and acceptance, friendship is born and carried into life that becomes richer because we are known to another.

Since I’m God’s adopted child, I share his name and I’m his friend. God is mine and I am God’s.

“Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.” God’s name is holy. Being connected to God envelopes me in peace and I know that I am within his shelter.I know God and God knows me.

My knowing is a young, changing and growing thing. Someday we’ll meet face to face and I can’t imagine…

Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be thy name…
